The future of Jasper took center stage on September 10, 2025, as the city hosted its first Comprehensive Plan Open House. Led by Development Director Mary Elizabeth Burgess, the event served as a critical "roadmap" session, inviting residents and business owners to help define the city's trajectory for the next twenty years. The presentation tackled pressing issues head-on, including major updates on sewer and water infrastructure and the introduction of impact fees designed to ensure new development contributes to the city's capital improvements.
Beyond the presentation, the energy in the room shifted to collaboration as attendees split into breakout groups to debate Housing, Land Use, Transportation, and Economic Development. These interactive sessions allowed the community to voice concerns about balancing the commercial growth on Highway 515 with the preservation of Jasper’s small-town charm.
